OcalaIT is the successor to Ktec Consulting a small IT consulting firm based in Ocala Florida and the brainchild of Chris Oleson. Chris started his career in the information technology field in 2000 as a web developer for a small kitchen appliance startup in Marquette Michigan. While attending Northern Michigan University Chris continued to work locally, maintaining a number of small business network infrastructures. In his work and studies Chris found a need for a more holistic approach to IT management and long before the term was coined Chris was providing “Managed Services”.
By 2004 Chris had relocated to Central Florida and was eager to unleash his entrepreneurial drive. Through a few fulltime jobs Chris quickly became frustrated with the level of service provided to the area and set out on his own. In 2006 Ktec Consulting was born from his Central Florida home, 100% bootstrapped without any outside investment. Ktec was met with great reception and Chris quickly made a name for himself as one of the best service providers in the area. Early in 2008 Ktec’s services expanded to include hosting, web development, design, and business incubation. Mid 2010 Chris made the decision to rebrand Ktec as OcalaIT and further solidify his name and brand.
